Top 5 Amazing Movies on Geopolitics

 First of all, what is geopolitics? As I search through online, the normal and easy to understand definition is politics, especially international relations, as influenced by geographical factors. And as the title of this blog or article suggest, here are the 5 amazing and brilliantly written movies on various geopolitical issues going on around the world:-

1. Sicario

Starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin in main roles. This movie is about various things going on the US-Mexican borders. Directed by Dennis Villeneuve and a score by Johann Johannsson. The movie revolves around a dangerous mission to stop a drug cartel operating between the US and Mexico, Kate Mercer, an FBI agent, is exposed to some harsh realities. 

2. Incendies

Again a movie directed by Dennis Villeneuve, this movie has various plot twist that will keep your brain asking for more. Starring Melissa Desormeaux-Poulin, Lubna Azabal and Maxim Gaudette. And a score by Gregoire Hetzel. The plot revolves around Canadian twins who travel to their mother's native country in the middle east to uncover her hidden past amidst a bloody civil war. While the country is unnamed, the events in the film are heavily influenced by the Lebanese Civil War and particularly the story of prisoner Souha Bechara.

3. Munich

Starring Eric Bana, Daniel Craig, Ciaran Hinds, Mathieu Kassovitz, Geoffery Rush and Hanns Zischler. The movie is directed by Steven Spielberg and co-written by Tony Kushner and Eric Roth. And a score by John Williams. The movies revolves around an account of Operation Wrath of God, the Israeli government's secret retaliation against the Palestine Liberation Organization after the Munich massacre at the 1972 Summer Olympics.

4. Black Hawk Down

Starring Eric Bana, Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, Tom Hardy, Tom Sizemore, Orlando Bloom, William Fichtner, Jason Isaacs, Ty Burrell, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and many more. This movie is directed by Ridley Scott and a screenplay by Ken Nolan. It is based on a novel of the same name called Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War by Mark Bowden. The score is composed by Hans Zimmer. 

5. Dunkirk

And for our last and final film, we have Dunkirk. Directed by Christopher Nolan and a score by Hans Zimmer. The film stars Harry Styles, Fionn Whitehead, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Jack Lowden and Kenneth Branagh and Tom Glynn-Carney. And it tries to depict the Dunkirk evacuation of World War 2 through the perspective of the land, sea and air.
